Sunny Isles Beach is located on a barrier island on the northeast section of Miami Beach, in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The east side is directly on the Atlantic Ocean, the west side is facing the Intracoastal Waterway, and it has one main road running north to south, Collins Avenue. Because of its incredible beauty of sun and surf, the City Commission has approved a new name of "Florida's Riviera" for this prestigious, prime location, likening it to that of the oceanside community of St. Tropez in Southeast France. The City of Sunny Isles Beach is situated perfectly between Miami and Fort Lauderdale, making it a half an hour drive to both the Miami International Airport and the Port of Miami to the south, and the Fort Lauderdale Airport and Port Everglades to the north.
