Hollywood,a city founded in 1925, is located in Broward County, on the east coast of South Florida, and includes a magnificent five to six mile stretch of beautiful white sand beaches directly on the Atlantic Ocean.As of 2011, Hollywood's population was 142,406 people, a population growth of 2.4 percent since 2000. It is located less than a half an hour from the Fort Lauderdale Airport and Port Everglades to the north, and a little more than half an hour south to the Miami International Airport and the Port of Miami, home of the largest cruise ships in the world.

A short drive away is shopping at the mega indoor shopping complex Aventura Mall, with over 300 stores, cafes, restaurants, an artist-designed interactive playground, Rainbow Valley, and a 24 screen movie theater. On a 10-acre traffic circle called Young Circle in Downtown Hollywood, is The ArtsPark, dedicated in 2007, and offering a wide choice of visual and performing arts-themed, educational, recreational, and entertainment activities for all ages. An environmental sculpture called Millennium Springs is a creative water feature by Japanese artist RitsukoTaho, which signifies the life energy of a Baobab tree, also known as the Tree of Life, along with the dreams of the City's founder. This busy park also features an amusing butterfly sculpture, inspired by the renowned artist Romero Britto, depicting the color and vibrancy of South Florida. Music is the main entertainment at the ArtsPark, with regularly scheduled concerts and special events in the amphitheater featuring big band, country, classical, blues, salsa, and much more.

The Hollywood Central Performing Arts Center, adjacent to the Hollywood Central Elementary School and the Broward County School Board is a 510-seat facility popular for graduations, dance recitals and local cultural arts events. The Center is within walking distance of Downtown Hollywood, arts, shopping, the entertainment district, and dining at a variety of restaurants offering pre-theater dining options.

The Hollywood Beach Theatre is the only seaside venue of its kind in Broward County. This unique facility seats 500, and has a variety of nearby shops and restaurants which feature al fresco dining. During performances, the Boardwalk in front of the theatre becomes a dance floor "under the stars" for up to 100 people. The famous Hollywood Boardwalk is recognized by Travel & Leisure as one of American's Best Beach Boardwalks.
